Backpacking in Siem Reap - Cambodia

I have spent 5 days in Siem Reap - Cambodia and which i had called home. You have plenty to do in Siem Reap except visiting massive of temples , pubstreet, checking out the beach (1 hour motorbike ride from Siem Reap), went for hiking (1 hr motorbike ride from Siem Reap as well) , tasted HAPPY pizza where you see them anywhere, roamed around Angkor Wat by motorbike, pretty much you can roam around using scooter/motorbike as its not walkable, you can rent motorbike for 20 USD per day, just a bit expensive but its for a day and you can go anywhere you like. Since i cant drive motorbikes, my fellow traveler was the driver so we just share the cost of the rent, at least you can save up. If you're backpacking, you tend to meet friends all over the world, especially if you stay in a hostel, meeting fellow backpackers along the way and talking about their travels are the best feeling ever as you tend to be more motivated as you listen to their stories and itineraries you got inspired that you wanted to travel more and more.

These are the 7 reasons why i love Siem Reap.

1. Massive Temples

For Angkor wat 1 day pass cost you 20 USD plus 20 USD for scooter rent for 1 day to.

2. Cheap Hostels

I stayed in a 8-BR mixed dorm hostel(which means its a combination of men and women in a room) which was 8 USD per night, in cambodia their currency is cambodian riel however you can pay USD and they can change you back with cambodian riel.

The backpackers hostel, was amazing it was clean and cheap. it has a nice lobby where you can mingle with other backpackers, has swimming pool  and its 3 mins walk to the Pubstreet.

3. Coolest PUBSTREET

Oh the you can have street massage everywhere in Pubstreet at night and guess what its 1 USD for 30min to 1 hr foot and body massage. Seriously sick and dope!

4. Stunning SUNSET VIEW

We checked out this mountain (cant remember whats its called.) we rode by motorbike as it was cemented so can take your bike up to the mountain. it was literally stunning to watch the sunset and has beautiful overlooking of the whole province.

5. West Baray Lake in Angkor

We visited this lake just to chill,  it was 1 hr motorbike ride from Siem Reap. I was with very very adventurous friends so we tried to find spots that are not very touristic. Of course was really hot and sweaty riding by scooter but was all worth it, if youre too adventurous to and you dont mind getting tan or sweaty then you can try this.

6. Friendly Locals

Friends and i roamed around angkor wat to check what else to see, anywhere in angkor wat is amazing, talking to the local people are something you have to do because kids over there can speak english, maybe even more fluent than you. haha

7. Happy PIZZA

We tried the HAPPY pizza too, which everyone knows its people choice if youre wanting to get HIGH in siem reap. ive had my first happy pizza and i only had 2 slices and was completely stoned. i guess it just very common in siem reap as eat this kind of pizza.

Expenses:

Air fare via Airasia (return) : 120 RM = 30 USD
Hostel : 31 RM /8 USD per night = 40 USD for 5 days (156 RM)
Angkor watt  1 DAY pass = 20 USD = 77 RM
Tuktuk going to the airport = 10 USD = 40 RM (back and forth)

Pocket Money : 600 RM(which includes everything except the airfare)
Total Expense : 720 RM = 184USD
